NAFLD / NASH with impaired hepatic function
NAFLD (now often termed MASLD) is fatty liver disease associated with metabolic dysfunction; NASH/MASH is the inflammatory form that can progress to fibrosis and cirrhosis. Most patients have obesity, diabetes, dyslipidemia, and hypertension — these COMORBIDITIES drive dental risk more than fatty liver itself. Dental takeaway: NAFLD with normal liver function usually needs NO special changes; NAFLD/NASH with impaired function or advanced fibrosis/cirrhosis should be managed like hepatic impairment/cirrhosis (apply F1).
