Cushing's syndrome / chronic glucocorticoid exposure
Cushing's syndrome = pathologic excess of glucocorticoids from endogenous cortisol excess (pituitary adenoma, adrenal tumor, ectopic ACTH) or exogenous steroid exposure (chronic prednisone, dexamethasone, etc.). Dental relevance: (1) immunosuppression and infection susceptibility, (2) impaired wound healing, (3) hypertension and diabetes as common comorbidities, (4) osteoporosis/MRONJ risk (cross-reference antiresorptive module), and (5) HPA-axis suppression in exogenous cases → adrenal insufficiency risk (cross-reference D3 adrenal module).
