Alcohol-related liver disease (ALD)
Alcohol-related liver disease ranges from steatosis → alcoholic hepatitis → fibrosis/cirrhosis. Dental relevance is TWO PROBLEMS AT ONCE: (1) liver impairment (drug metabolism, bleeding risk, renal vulnerability — apply cirrhosis module F1 when present), and (2) alcohol use disorder (AUD) issues: intoxication (consent/aspiration risk), withdrawal risk (seizures/DTs can be life-threatening), medication interactions (alcohol + CNS depressants), malnutrition (lower acetaminophen toxic threshold), and higher trauma risk.
