Chronic hypoxemia / home oxygen patients
Dental riskhigh
A home oxygen user has chronic hypoxemia from COPD, ILD, pulmonary hypertension, advanced heart disease, or other causes requiring long-term oxygen therapy (LTOT) and/or ambulatory oxygen. They are at higher risk of desaturation during stress, supine positioning, and sedation due to minimal physiologic reserve. ATS guidelines define indications for LTOT and ambulatory oxygen. This module covers oxygen target management, sedation risks, and fire safety.
